Starting in Reception Class
When your child is offered a place at Normandy Village School in our reception class we will contact you with details of the transition arrangements.
We arrange three stay and play sessions in June and July so that the children can familiarise themselves with the Reception environment. During the 2nd session you will book a 1:1 meeting with staff for you and your child at home.
1st Stay and Play
This is the first of our transition sessions. Please bring your child to explore their new learning environment and to become familiar with some of our apparatus and equipment. Parents are required to stay with their child. There will a chance to meet members of the Senior Leadership, Reception Team and other new parents. We would be very grateful if no other siblings are present at this session, to avoid any distractions.
2nd Stay and Play
Your child is invited to a second ‘stay and play’ session. Parents are invited to a meeting with the Headteacher and key staff. This will also be an opportunity to complete any outstanding paperwork and collect resources to support your child’s learning over the summer holidays. We will be inviting pre-school and nursery staff to this session to support your children.
3rd Stay and Play
Your child is invited to a third and final ‘stay and play’ session. This will be an opportunity for your child to stay at school independently whilst you enjoy some time to yourselves!
Starting School in September
- Days 1-3: Reception children start school at 9am and finish at 11.30am.
- Days 4-5: Reception children start school at 9am and finish at 1.20pm, after lunch.
- Day 6: Reception children start school full-time at 8.45am (Gates open at 8.30am) and finish at 3.10pm.
